Dubai

Dubai is a wonderful destination for a holiday.  Pack your backs, jump on a last minute flight and that’s it you’re already enjoying you’re last minute holiday.  Dubai has some of the best hotels in the World.  They are currently building the Worlds tallest building there.  It will be a huge tourist attraction and many people will go there to by souveniers and take holiday photographs.  There are miles and miles of white sandu beaches with families taking holidays together.  There is a great marina with the most fantastic speed boats and yachts and some of the wealthiest people holiday there.  It really is a playground for the rich and famous.

Cultural Sensitivity

When taking that last minute break don’t forget to read up on the cultural requirements of your destination.  In some countries, particularly in the Middle East, it is offensive to drink or smoke and there are certain protocols about behaviour on holiday.  It is important that you adhere to, and respect, the cultural rules otherwise local law enforcement agencies will be prompt to take action against you.  In some countries you cannot smoke in public places.  Please remember to be courteous and respectful.  Always remember you are a visitor in another country and try to behave in an appropriate manner.

Getting a cheap flight often means trawling through the internet but ‘as the clock is ticking’ and tour operators and airlines do not want to see flights leaving half-full. This is particularly in the current economic climate where money is tight, especially with exchange rates having moved strongly against the Pound over the last 12 months (which has made holidays to the United States of America and mainland Europe significantly more expensive) and therefore flight operators want to ‘fill the planes’ rather than experience the pain of them being partially full.  They will therefore be heavily discounting, even more so in the last few days running up to the flight departure.  If you can travel with 24 hours notice, you are in an even stronger position, but you probably will need to be flexible on your destination location. 
 
Getting a cheap last minute hotel hasn’t been easier.  Many of the tour operators block booked hotels last year having no idea of the impact of the economic downturn – who could possibly have predicted the huge impact of the global credit crunch.  If they don’t sell some of their pre-purchased accommodation a lot of tour operators, including many high street names, face the impact of losing significant sums of money.  They know they are in a weak position in terms of negotiation and therefore the consumer is in a great bargaining position and has the opportunity to barter to get great value holiday accommodation.

Last minute getaways for family holidays also represent a great opportunity for the discerning holiday bargain hunter.  With the increased availability of kids clubs, what could be better.  You get up in the morning at your dream destination, have breakfast together, drop the kids off , where they spend all day doing great activities and making new friends whilst your free to enjoy yourselves.  Either go shopping in the local markets, lounge around the swimming pool occasionally travelling all the way down to the pool bar for a refill.  Whichever way you look at it, holidays are great even more if you know you’ve got a great deal by deciding to travel at the last minute.
