Mountain Trekking and Sports Holidays
Adventure Holidays are always interesting as you have to battle against the elements and whatever nature throws at you. Sometimes this will involve camping, and finding and cooking wildlife. Most people fid this difficult so you should always make sure you travel with experts who know what to do in case they end up in a difficult situation. There is no point going on these types of holidays if you are ill prepared otherwise you could end up facing terrible consequences. Also make sure these holidays are classified as sports adventure holidays when you take out your travel insurance. Wouldn’t it be nightmare if you had an accident, had to have an air ambulance and then were faced with huge medical bills that you were personally liable for because you had not take our adequate travel insurance. Please don’t let that happen for your own sake. On top of being out of work for a long ton me you could be seriously out of pocket as well. These types of holidays are often referred to as dangerous sports holidays. We would advise that you do not take a cheap last minute sports related holiday as for these types of holiday need planning and proper time management. Remember the old saying fail to prepare – prepare to fail.
Your Flight
Your flight can always be a difficult part of your holiday. You have to get to the airport early to check in. This often means an early morning start. Most airlines will want to you to check-in three hours before the flight departure time. Also, make sure you don’t exceed your baggage allowance otherwise there is usually a penalty payment.
Once you’ve checked in you can do a little bit of last minute shopping. Don’t forget those all important last minute bits and pieces. These include:-
- - Travel sickness tablets to stop you bringing up your last meal on the plane
- - Sweets, to suck on, to stop your ears clicking during the take-off and landing stages of your flight
- Aspirin to thin your blood – an aspirin really can prevent the impact of deep vein thrombosis that a few individuals die from every year due to inactivity, particularly when they have mad long haul flights to far away destinations.
- Flight socks – flight socks also prevent deep vein thrombosis
- Paracetemol in case you get a headache during the long journey
- A bottle of drinking water to stop you getting dehydrated during the flight
- Adaptors for your electrical equipment
- Travel tooth brush and paste for the aeroplane
- Duty free shopping to advantages of the tax breaks you get on alcohol, cigarettes and electrical when travelling overseas. Remember you can’t always rely on picking alcohol and cigarettes up on the plane as they sometimes have limited stock or run out of stock. Remember to read through your allowance levels carefully – you wouldn’t want to break any rules and regulations.
- Magazines for the plane or departure lounge in case you get delayed.
On the aeroplane, listen carefully to the emergency procedures, you never think its going to happen but this might be the time you crash and therefore it is really important to know where the safety exits are on the plane, where your life jacket is, how to use the oxygen masks if they deploy or just generally what to do if you experience some turbulence.
